Members of this club hosted a fun and fund raising evening at St Mary’s church hall to raise further contributions to the Yorkshire Scanner Appeal. The audience was treated to an interesting talk about the history & production of chocolate illustrated with a tasting session of several concentrations of cocoa mass.       The speaker was Sally Hawkes, the owner of White Rabbit Chocolate Company in Beverley. The evening raised more than £240.               President Jennifer Heppenstall is pictured presenting a cheque for £1,000 to Jean van der Ende being the sum that the Soroptimists in Beverley have raised to date for the Yorkshire Scan Appeal.

Jean and Dorothy talked about the new treatment for breast & prostate cancer that is being carried out at Hull Royal Infirmary. This groundbreaking work requires the purchase of a scanner which will be the only one of its kind in this country. The Club gave a donation and a lunch is being planned for September to raise funds for this vital piece of research work.
