Soroptimist International is a global volunteer movement working to transform the lives of women and girls. We have nearly 72,000 Members in 121 countries. Soroptimist International Great Britain and Ireland (SIGBI) has 6000 Members in 270 Clubs in 18 countries including Great Britain, Ireland and countries in Asia, the Caribbean and Malta. We work at a local, national and international level to educate, empower and enable opportunities for women and girls. http://Sigbi.org.
The main stay of Soroptimism is our Programme Action work and this year 2025 will continue to focus on:
- Women’s safety, in particular through understanding how effective http://askforangela.co.uk is in our area and what safety measures are available in our Transport Rail stations.
- Helping to make beds at turn around times at the http://calvertlakes.org.uk we have undertaken this project for over ten years.
- Collecting drink cans ring pulls for p-c-f.org .The Purple Community is a charity based in the Philippines. Did you know that every ring pull is worth 3p to them! Take a look at the products they make and sell with the ring pulls. - Sustainability both for the Climate and the Environment. in one of our projects we have planted new saplings and continued their maintenance at Common End Distington 2021-present. In addition we are supporting charities such as cumbriaclothingcollective.co.uk as they look to promote reuse and recycle of clothes.
