We promoted the idea of buying a tree as a Christmas gift at a time when shops weren’t open due to the pandemic. Members were encouraged to promote the project by sending an e-card outlining it to their friends and any WhatsApp groups they belonged to. An e-certificate was provided for everyone who bought trees.
The project was undertaken in partnership with the Tree Council of Ireland who will plant the trees in the Glencree valley. In total €1130 was raised which means that a grove of 226 native trees will be planted with a plaque referencing the Soroptimist Centenary.
