World Water Day 22 March 2014 = Water and Energy Posted: March 4, 2014 World Water Day 22nd March 2014 Water and energy are closely interlinked and interdependent. These interdependencies lie at the heart of what is known as the “water-energy nexus”. Facts about the water-energy nexus, globally… 90% of power generation is water-intensive. There is an increasing risk of conflict between power generation, other water users and environmental considerations. Energy production accounts for roughly 15% of all water withdrawals, or roughly 75% of all industrial water withdrawals. We may all know how to tweet and facebook but do we know how to make handmade cards, crochet and make beaded decorations? We were lucky enough to be shown all this and more by the Blackrock Guild of the ICA. It proved to be great fun, very therapeutic and a great social day for the Dublin Soroptimists and friends. We even had a chance to have our blood pressure checked by a representative from the Irish Heart Founadation. We also managed to raise  €750.00 for them and came away with some great gift ideas made with our own hands, a very fun and fruitful morning!
