We may all know how to tweet and facebook but do we know how to make handmade cards, crochet and make beaded decorations? We were lucky enough to be shown all this and more by the Blackrock Guild of the ICA. It proved to be great fun, very therapeutic and a great social day for the Dublin Soroptimists and friends. We even had a chance to have our blood pressure checked by a representative from the Irish Heart Founadation. We also managed to raise  €750.00 for them and came away with some great gift ideas made with our own hands, a very fun and fruitful morning!

There are 1100 CF patients in Ireland, 55% are children and 45% are adults and there has been an urgent need to update the units in the Hospital.  Through funds raised, the 200 sq metres 4 patient rooms all with ensuites are now completed.  They are well kitted out with a lounge/kitchenette for parents and a nurse station.  The isolation rooms themselves mean that patients can be treated comfortably and the children can be with their parents, as there are clever wardbrobe beds in each room.  Other rooms include an activity room, and areas for children to attend school and study for exams.  Outside there is a little garden area. These units allow

The Soroptimist Club of Dublin was chartered in 1938 by the Belfast Club, thus becoming the second oldest club in Ireland.  The Dublin Club celebrated with a lunch in Howth Yacht Club and despite the bad weather, there was a great attendance from all over Ireland.
