Some members of SI Dublin enjoyed a great afternoon starting off with a tour of The Oratory in Dun Laoghaire which contains amazing Celtic Revival artwork by Sister Concepta Lynch. We then had a lovely lunch and then did the boat cruise from Dun Laoghaire to Killiney Bay.
Well done Mary for a fantastic year as our club President. It was great to be back in person last night at our AGM in our new premises. We wish Birgit & Caroline the very best for the year ahead as our new President’s. After our meeting, members enjoyed a vegetarian night in aid of our International President’s Appeal which will be used to provide education to girls in Cambodia.
SI Dublin member’s Linda & Birgit visited Val Kiernan & Pat of Glencree to see our grove of 350 trees and to plant the 10 year old oak sapling donated by SIROI to celebrate the centenary of Soroptimist’s.
SI Dublin members had a fantastic afternoon hosted by our club secretary Breda in aid of Toilet Twinning. The club raised €700 on the day. Well done to everyone.
Well done to SI Dublin members who did another An Taisce litter pick up along the Dodder from the Dropping Well to Farmer Brown’s (Rathmines) and back for World Earth Day.
Well done to all of the girls who took part in our public speaking competition. We had 9 speakers who were all excellent. Our winners were Sophie Faughnan & Sophie Kilcullen from Holy Faith, Clontarf and our reserve Aisling McGorrian from St Joseph of Cluny. They will represent SI Dublin in the Regional finals in Athlone on December 4th.
President Mary Troy presented Cathy Kelly & Ann Murray from Home-Start Blanchardstown a cheque for €1176.11, which was raised from our 10k walks by SI Dublin members and Home-Start staff and Board members in June 2021. They provide vital support to families. It was a great honour to see the work being done by Cathy, Ann and the team.
President Linda Peters performed induction ceremony of our 2 new members to SI Dublin. We are delighted to welcome Stephanie and Elaine into our club. We wish them the very best.We hope to meet up in person very soon.
Club President Linda Peters and Birgit Schmidt Programme Action Officer, met with The Tree Council of Ireland & Glencree Centre for Peace & Reconciliation to decide where the 250 native Irish trees will be planted.
