Charity Shop Windows throughout Harrogate and District sparkled with Christmas Spirit in the Club’s annual Charity Shop Window Competition. This year the Club widened its horizons to include Charity shops in Boroughbridge, Knaresborough, Ripon, Starbeck and Wetherby as well as Harrogate. The Club initiated the Harrogate Shop window competition in 2004 as part of their Light up Harrogate campaign. Over 40 shops were visited on the 26th November. The area was divided into 4 zones. Harrogate, Knaresborough with Starbeck, Ripon with Boroughbridge and Wetherby. Each zone has a Winner and a Highly commended. An overall winner is presented with the Soroptimist Shop Window Competition Cup.

The shop window received top marks from the judges on Innovation, Impact and the Spirit of Christmas contrasting the opulence of Christmas with the stark reality of not knowing where the next meal will come from that so many across the world experience everyday.
