Who we are
We are a group of like minded women who want to make a difference to the lives of other women and girls - and have fun while we do it!
Our club is part of a global organisation of women who are working together to transform the lives of women and girls
Are you looking for a local women's club with a community focus, but also national and international influence? Soroptimist International is a global organisation of women working to transform the lives of women and girls worldwide. We have a voice at the UN and have been making a difference to the lives of women and girls since 1921. Our mission is to transform the lives and status of women and girls through education, empowerment and enabling opportunites.
We are a group of like minded women who want to make a difference to the lives of other women and girls - and have fun while we do it!
We usually meet at the Dean Park Hotel, Kirkcaldy, KY2 6HF. Meetings are on a Monday evening, at 7pm, on the second and fourth of the month. Occasionally we meet at other venues and times - full details are in our Programme.

Each year we donate a book voucher and certificate to a senior girl selected by her school at each of the four Kirkcaldy High Schools in turn. This year Kara Matthew of Kirkcaldy High School was the lucky recipient. She has done very well in her Highers and told President Patricia that she hopes to go to Aberdeen University to study law and then become a human rights lawyer.
President Patricia has chosen our charity for this year which is Guide Dogs. We had a talk from Ian who has been a volunteer puppy raiser for many years. He receives the puppy at around 8 weeks and looks after it for about a year. During that time he trains and socialises the puppy, as well as introducing it to all aspects of the environment it might come across in later life.
In common with many SI clubs we lend to women entrepreneurs in countries such as Togo, Vietnam and Azerbaijan. Recently we lent to a group of women who are supplying families with solar systems which enables students to study in the evenings, thereby increasing their attainment levels.
