SI Medway and Maidstone Soroptimists, Angela Howe and Jane Barnes volunteered today. They took part in the monthly Gardening and Litter Pick Task Day at the Esplanade Gardens, Rochester.
We were lucky that the weather was sunny and dry and ideal for a spot of gardening. It was a busy morning for the volunteers. Some picked up litter in the local vicinity, others cleared the three raised flower beds. We cleared away lots of weeds and brambles and filled lots of rubbish bags.
The next Gardening and Litter Pick Task Day is being held on 21 August. If you have a few hours available between 10am and 12noon that day then why not volunteer?
Friends of Rochester Churchfields & Esplanade (FoRCE) help protect, improve and promote the Esplanade and Churchfields areas of Rochester for the good of the community. They run solely on donations and volunteers. They are planning a Sensory Garden to benefit the community and planting will begin on 25 September.
Discussions are taking place with the Chair of FoRCE as SI Medway and Maidstone are keen to contribute and have trees planted in the Sensory Garden to mark the Soroptimist Centennial and the Soroptimist Rose received for our 75th Anniversary.
