Tackling Domestic Abuse

The Club has for a long time had a close connection to those that work to reduce incidents of domestic abuse. For a number of years we were represented on the Medway Domestic Abuse Forum.  The logo used for the Forum was designed by one of our members, Liz Duckworth and can be seen on the domestic abuse booklet below.

We helped to set up the One Stop Shop which gives advice to those undergoing trauma. Those on the Forum are now professionals, but we continue to support their work, mainly by attending and providing refreshments for their conferences and donating to their ‘Flight Fund’.

There is a domestic abuse booklet that can be downloaded signposting those affected by domestic abuse to support services available.

We also support the local refuges by providing goods such as food, mobile telephones, bedding and childrens’ clothing. At Christmas we also provide gifts for both mothers and children.

Each club across the South East England Region were asked to identify what action they had taken over the past 12 months to support local refuges and tackling domestic abuse.  This is the summary of action that was submitted for our club.
