As we woke up on the morning of the longest day of the year, it was to bright sunshine and ideal weather for Sue Hunt’s Garden Party. Sue is an enthusiastic supporter of the Itarsi Project and has been holding garden parties at her home to raise monies for more than 20 years.
Soroptimists and friends are invited to come with a savoury, and/or dessert dish contributions. Along with enjoying the food and drink sat outside, there was chatting with old and new friends. In particular, we welcomed Valerie Randall Webb, a former member of Maidstone club for more than 40 years. Valerie had left Kent and only returned to live here last year. She was keen to come to the Garden Party and support the event as when she was a Soroptimist she had visited the Itarsi project. She was able to share her experiences of the work Itarsi were doing to support the Railway Street Children.
We also met with 2 potential new members and friends of Sue’s who had been invited. Hopefully, they will decide to join us in the future or come along to a meeting to find out more.
Donations from members and proceeds from the Raffle organised by Janet Hughes meant £266 was raised for Itarsi. A big thank you to Sue Hunt and her husband Chris for the warm welcome and opening their home and garden to us all to enjoy.
