Skills for Life and Health 2015 – A Course Delivered by SIM

SIM runs a 10-week course, titled “Skills for Life and Health” targeting women in a disadvantaged area of aged 19 and over and delivered in a community hub. The course will include sessions on: self-esteem and confidence-building; assertiveness; stress causes and cures; health essentials; looking after mental health and feeling good; valuing self and others; cultural diversity; communication and body language; looking good; building motivation. At least two sessions will be based on learners’ expressed needs. The course will contribute to the following local priorities:

  • Creating stronger/safer communities
    • Support people to develop communication skills
    • Ensure that Middlesbrough is a cohesive and harmonious community where people from different backgrounds get on well together.
  • Promoting health and well-being.
    • Help to promote health, well-being and independence.
    • Support the preventative agenda in relation to health and well-being.
  • Support people to develop employability skills.

The course commences on Friday, the 9th of October 2015 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Community Hub Thorntree, Birkhall Road, Thorntree, Middlesbrough, TS3 9JW.
