Summary:
Advocating for young women and girls at the sixty-first session of the Commission on the Status of Women taking place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 13 to 24 March 2017.

An opportunity to have a voice from the grassroots to educate, empower and enable women and girls from different countries on grooming, sexual exploitation and how it effects economic empowerment. SDG goals 4,5, 8, 10, 16 and 17. education,gender equality, reducing inequality, economic empowerment, peace and justice and partnerships for goals.

What did the project involve?

The project involved applying for funds to cover costs of travel and events, training young people, learning and team work. Preparation and practice for talks and presentations at UN CSW61. Also instructing on CSW , what it is and how it works. Working with other NGOs eg NAWO and youth organisations eg WAGGGS .This provided an opportunity to educate, empower and enable women and girls from different countries and how economic empowerment could change their lives and take young people out of sexu

What was the result of this project?

An opportunity to advocate ,inform, educate, empower and enable women and girls from different countries and share best practice. Development of life skills and social awareness. Increase Soroptimist membership. . SDG goals 4,5, 8, 10, 16 and 17. Gender equality, reducing inequality, economic empowerment, peace and justice and partnerships for goals. Inspired, motivated and influenced participants to transfer knowledge and understanding of VAWGs, trafficking and how it effects economic empower
