Soroptimist International - Newbury and District

Soroptimist International of Newbury and District is part of a worldwide organisation of women, which is linked to the United Nations.

Welcome to SI Newbury & District

Welcome to Soroptimist International Newbury and District, part of a world wide organisation for women. We meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month, with the exception of August,  in the annexe at St George’s Church, Wash Common, Newbury RG14 6NU at 7.30pm . Following speaker meetings, a short business meeting will be held.

During August we organise a summer lunch at the home of one of our members to which we also invite our husbands/ partners.

Newbury and District was chartered in June 1956. At present we have 18 members from a variety of professions as well as voluntary and other organisations. We are active in the community and enjoy meeting together for fellowship and fun.

Each year our president nominates a charity for which we raise funds by organising various events. This year our main charity will be The Alexandra Devine Children’s Hospice.

One of our biggest fundraising events is the annual pancake race held in Newbury Market Place on Shrove Tuesday.
