Margo gave us a very interesting update on Newbury’s Ukraine guests.  She was very involved and had a family of four living with her and her husband.  Her talk included their arrival in the UK and how everything was put in place for their stay, most things went to plan but of course some things did take a little longer to sort out.  Newbury town officials and residents were also very supportive.  We also heard about how they had settled and what life was like or them now.

At our October meeting Helen gave us a talk on the work that PALS (Partners for Active Leisure Scheme) do.  PALS is a local charity that embraces children and young people from 5 to 25 who have physical  disabilities.  They are able to do some really amazing things from meeting up with children or young people just like them to chat and enjoy a social gathering, they also go on day trips and very occasionally are able to have a night or two away from home with their friends. They could do done of this without the help of PALS.
