Barbara Dixon Programme Action Award 2023 and 2024

2024

We were extremely pleased to have achieved First Place in the Barbara Dixon Award with the Masaka Girls Dormitory Project 

To help create a better world for girls through Education, Enabling and Empowerment

  • It was judged our involvement in the project has contributed to meeting the requirements of Soroptimist International Goals in the following areas:

SDG 3   Ensure Healthy Lives and Well-being SDG 4 – Quality Education SDG 5 – Achieve gender equality and empowerment for girls

5 P’s     People – assisting girls to gain confidence, dignity and equality. Prosperity – Ensure prosperous and fulfilling lives. 

3 E’s     This project has contributed to providing education for 360 girls which will enable and empower them to achieve their goals and lift them out of poverty

3 A’s     Awareness of the need for a dormitory for girls was highlighted and we took action by raising funds to improve the lives of girls in Masaka, Uganda

2023

We achieved Second place in the Barbara Dixon Award 2023 for activities carried out at the North Wales Women’s Centre

3 E’s of Education Empowerment and Enabling for women and their communities

It had to be a current club project demonstrating  the 3 E’s of Education Empowerment and Enabling for women and their communities.

Criteria:

  1. The project responds to an identified need, local, national or international.
  2. There are clear SMART objectives – specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time related.
  3. It demonstrates partnership with other agencies where possible.
  4. It demonstrates links to SDGs and 5 P’s.
  5. The display communicated the steps taken to bring the project to fruition.
