Two cities that have been associated with my life have again overlapped, I was born in Aberdeen, brought up in Belfast, back in Aberdeen for nearly 30 years and came in as Scotland North President at Conference in Belfast 2022. It meant a lot to me to be in Belfast representing Scotland North. I hope that during my time as president we can grow as an organisation, not just with new members but growing the members we already have, by listening to new ideas, informing each other, and encouraging each other to step up and do our bit for our clubs, region and the whole organisation.
We are continuing with two zoom and two in-person meetings over 2022/2023, a format that seems to be working well, and allowing us to have speakers from all over the country.
We are working with Scotland South on both a joint event and how we can share roles and responsibilities to support each other. I hope that by making some of the traditional roles more attractive by breaking them down into parts for more people to do we can share the load and all enjoy any tasks we take on both at club and regional level.
As a team the Regional Executive are working together to keep our region going and I hope supporting our 6 clubs in any way we can.
“Supporting each other; nurturing new ideas” is what I would like to do and hopefully encourage everyone to do.
I have personal interests in many topics from Human Trafficking to Fairtrade and hope we can all pull together to be able to say we are all ‘Standing up for women and girls’ locally, nationally and internationally.
