I am honoured to be the President of Soroptimist International Scotland North and to be working alongside a wonderful TEAM of women. Aesop said, ‘In union there is strength’ and I believe this to be so. This TEAM, the Region Executive Committee, all have individual roles and all are willing to put their heads above the parapet, to go the extra mile to support, lead & direct our activities across the Region.
Scotland North (Region) has seven Clubs with over 180 members, all women who want to make a difference locally, nationally & internationally. And, by working as a TEAM, we can achieve great things; we can make a BIG difference, which is what we are all about! As Andrew Carnegie almost said, ‘It marks a big step in a (wo) man’s development when (s) he comes to realize that other (wo)men can be called in to help (her) him do a better job than (s)he can do alone.’ And Mother Teresa said ‘You can do what I cannot do. I can do what you cannot do. Together we can do great things.’
And, as Andrew Carnegie said, ‘Teamwork is the ability to work together towards a common vision, the ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organisational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.’
Our vision as part of TEAM SI (Soroptimist International):
We are committed to a world where women and girls together achieve their individual and collective potential, realise aspirations and have an equal voice in creating strong, peaceful communities. Our mission is to inspire action and create opportunities to transform the lives of women and girls through a global network of members and international partnerships. As a TEAM, we can play our part in helping to achieve the vision and the mission.
I commend all Soroptimist Clubs’ websites – do find out what they’ve been up to! See how Together Everyone Achieves More! What a great TEAM to work alongside!
Jean Campbell
President 2015 – 2016
