Why Become a Soroptimist?

To make a difference

Every Club works on a range of projects to improve the lives of women and girls, all over the world, as well as close to home. Our projects need members with a wide range of skills, knowledge and interests. There will be something we are doing in SI Stafford that will appeal to you.

To make new friends

SI Stafford is a very friendly Club. You’ll quickly start to get to know people and make friends. Women who are moving to the area, changing their job and/or their home, or are just entering a new phase of their lives – perhaps ’empty-nesters’, or approaching retirement  – find our Club a very warm and supportive place.

To have fun!

There are many events and opportunities to meet each other socially, whether you like visiting gardens or going to musicals, or just enjoying a coffee together. You can get as involved as you wish.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the word ‘Soroptimist’ mean?

It comes from the latin ‘soror’ (sister) and ‘optima’ best – so, the best of sisters!

How much does it cost to be a Soroptimist?

We usually reckon our annual subscription is less than the cost of buying one coffee a week. We can be more detailed when you contact us.

Do I have to attend every meeting?

No, few members achieve that in any one year! Obviously, the more often you can come, the quicker you will get to understand what is going on, make friends, and get involved.

When are the meetings and where are they held?

Once a month: Tuesday evenings.  Please get in touch with the Membership Officer if you would like to come to anything.

On the first Tuesday of the month the meeting starts at 7.00 pm and there is often a speaker and business.

For most of the year, these take place at Stafford Rangers Football Club. We reserve the right to hold meetings on Zoom in poor weather.

No meetings are arranged in August or December, but there are often social gatherings.
