Our Friendship Links

Stockport Club has Friendship Links with several other clubs: Heilbronn in Germany which is one of Stockport’s twinned towns and most recently linking with Buxton, high in the neighbouring Peak District.

We also have a link with Guernsey. 2010 was the 70th anniversary of the arrival in Stockport of some 1200 child evacuees from Guernsey, many of whom stayed in the town after the war and there were several commemorative events in the town.  Club members have continued to attend the Guernsey Club’s Friendship Weekend each summer since.

In  2019 a number of members were once again able to attend Guernsey’s annual Friendship Link weekend.  Liberation Day was actively celebrated with a parade and a Liberation Hangar Ball – vintage dress a necessity!  The tree given to Guernesey from SI Stockport commemorating 70 years since the WW II evacuation of women and children to Stockport is also thriving.  Many thanks to SI Guernsey for their friendship and hospitality.
