THIS WAS A REAL TREAT AND RAISED £52 TO SUPPORT CLUB MEMBER LINDA JOHNSON FOR HER FORTHCOMING REGIONAL PRESIDENTIAL YEAR The BBC play by J.B. Priestley, in which three Edwardian Yorkshire couples, who were all married on the same day 25 years earlier, gather to celebrate their joint silver wedding anniversary, only to be told that due to a legal technicality their marriages were not valid and that for the past quarter-century they have all effectively been living in sin. Some react with horror at potential scandal, while others glimpse the possibility of freedom from a deadbeat spouse, or regret potential loves that got away after they were “married”.

PETITION UPDATE New legislation to allow ratification of Istanbul Convention Becca, Robyn, Rachel & IC Change team London, United Kingdom 28 JUN 2017 — Hello! Following calls from individuals and organisations across the UK, (including letters we recently sent to the new ministers and the Prime Minister signed by 27 organisations), we are pleased the government has announced today that it will be taking the final step to enable ratification of the Istanbul Convention. Homes in Newcastle and Gateshead were raided in a crackdown on gangs who lure women to the UK before trapping them into prostitution Police swooped on a Tyneside human trafficking ring thought to have links to a multi-million pound European organised crime gang. Homes in Newcastle and Gateshead were targeted in dawn raids which resulted in six arrests and eight women being offered support. It is understood the gang lured girls to the UK from Romania with the promise of paid work – before trapping them into a life of prostitution. Investigators believe the criminals were using the internet to advertise the services of their victims, then forcing them to launder the proceeds through bank accounts controlled by the gang. Across Europe, the group and its wider network are suspected to have made around €5m in criminal profits. In Newcastle and Gateshead, 10 addresses were

Sally Allan was a special, but ordinary wife, mum, granny, sister and friend, who took her own life on Boxing Day 2015 due to mental health issues she had masked from everyone for some time. The Sally Allan Fund was developed to help reduce stigma and raise awareness of mental health problems to create better mental health in the North East. Our vision is to provide a free 30-minute presentation with three aims: • To give people the knowledge about common mental health problems so that they feel more self-assured in identifying them in others and starting a conversation about it. • To provide information so that individuals feel more confident and empowered to speak up about their experiences and to ask for the advice, support and treatment that they need. • To recognise the importance of self-care for the prevention of mental health problems
