Celebrating Soroptimist Success Across the Region

Showcasing the creativity, compassion, and impact of our Soroptimist clubs.

This year marked an exciting new chapter for our Region as we revived and reimagined the presentation of Regional Awards for Programme Action projects. Instead of the Executive choosing the winners, every club had the chance to celebrate one another’s achievements by voting for the projects they felt most deserving of the Gold, Silver, and Bronze Awards. The result was a wonderful celebration of Soroptimist creativity, compassion, and collective action—showcasing how our clubs truly make a difference in women’s lives.

Gold Award – SI Bridgend and District

Project: Brownies Got Talent 2025
A joyful and confidence-building event empowering girls aged 7–10 to showcase their talents in a fun and supportive setting. Partnering with local Brownie groups, members organised and judged the competition, encouraging every girl to participate and earn her Performing badge. Many overcame shyness, discovered new skills, and even joined drama clubs or school shows afterwards. Now in its sixth successful year, this project perfectly embodies Soroptimist Empowerment and Action—nurturing confidence, friendship, and fun!

Silver Award – SI Cwmbran and District

Project: Partnership with The Grange University Hospital
This heart-warming initiative provided dignity and comfort packs—including nappies, toiletries, bonding squares, and trauma teddies—to support women, babies, and families during hospital stays. Working closely with the hospital chaplaincy team, members created tailored care packs offering both practical and emotional comfort. A shining example of Empower, Educate, Enable and Awareness, Advocacy, Action in practice—spreading kindness, compassion, and hope.

Bronze Award – SI Glamorgan

Project: #OrangeCardiff for #OrangeTheWorld
A simple yet powerful idea—using beermats with QR codes in pubs and social venues—to raise awareness of domestic abuse and connect women with support services. Reaching 19 venues across South Wales, the campaign started meaningful conversations about respect, behaviour, and safety. Low-cost, high-impact, and full of heart—this project perfectly captures Soroptimist Advocacy, Awareness, and Action in everyday places.

Regional Pride at SIGBI Conference!

We were asked to submit four projects from our Region for consideration at the SIGBI Conference “Speed Dating Projects” session, so alongside our three award winners we proudly included our 4th place project from SI Minerva. We were delighted when all four were selected! Originally, only two projects were expected to be chosen, but SI Wales South shone brightly, with four of the 25 projects (16%) coming from our Region—an outstanding achievement that highlights the strength, creativity, and impact of our clubs.

Also Showcased at Conference – SI Minerva

Project: Empowering Women via Medicines Education: Becoming Medicines Savvy
SI Minerva’s project was also selected for presentation at Conference, highlighting the club’s commitment to improving women’s health and wellbeing across South Wales. Delivered entirely by members, the sessions helped women build confidence in managing their medicines safely and making informed choices about their health. Reaching a range of community groups, including survivors of domestic abuse, the initiative reflected the Soroptimist values of Educate, Empower, and Enable through practical, accessible learning.

A huge congratulations to all four clubs for their creativity, dedication, and service—showing once again that Soroptimist Wales South leads with heart, purpose, and impact.
