From Local Impact to Global Influence
Between January 2024 and March 2025, Soroptimist clubs across the SI Wales South region showed strong commitment to transforming lives and advocating for women and girls through impactful project work. A total of 80 programme reports were submitted to SIGBI, reflecting a wide range of initiatives focused on health awareness, environmental protection, education, and the fight against gender-based violence.
From local initiatives like beach cleans and comfort teddies for children in need, to global campaigns such as Toilet Twinning and Lend with Care, clubs across the region worked tirelessly to make a meaningful difference. Highlights included continued support for the 16 Days of Activism, educational outreach through book donations, and practical assistance to organisations such as Cyfannol Women’s Aid, Dewis, and Thrive Women’s Aid.
Our Club Projects Support the UN’s Global Goals for Women and Girls
These projects do more than create local impact — they also feed into the bigger picture. The work carried out by our clubs contributes directly to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those focused on gender equality, quality education, good health and well-being, clean water and sanitation, and reducing inequalities. Programme reports are submitted to SIGBI, which uses them to inform the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) about the grassroots actions making a difference for women and girls around the world.
This vibrant and varied activity reflects the heart of Soroptimist values — advocacy, action, and awareness — delivered with compassion, collaboration, and purpose.
