Our Programme Action: Soroptimist Health Cards

While advocating for health improvements, Soroptimists also work to bring practical and active support to women and girls who need direction and advice to look after their health.

Our health cards are one way we do that.  These are a series of 7 pocket-sized cards, designed to be popped into wallets and bags, which give quick advice on symptoms and ways to get support on a range of health issues.

We know that often women are unsure of their symptoms and are unable or unsure where to go to get the help they need.  Symptoms left unchecked can lead to further complications.  These cards are a simple way to raise awareness and offer support.

As part of our on-going programme action, members make these cards readily available, free to pick up, where women might easily find them. The cards can be found in cafes, community centres, libraries, hairdressers and other places, or as part of our Orange Café programme, where members visit local cafes on 25th of the month to meet new members or women looking for advice.

Our aim is that by offering reliable and simple advice, more women and girls can get the help they need sooner.

If you wish to know more, or would like sets of cards for your own campaign or outlet, please contact our Advocacy Programme Director on apdadvocacy@sigbi.org
