Happy New Year 2018!

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and I would like to wish you all a peaceful and prosperous New Year!

Well, I am nearly 3/4 of the way through my year as President of SI Widnes and can’t believe how quickly the time has flown. We have certainly had lots of fun, food and fundraising as I hoped with our Strawberry Tea and Teddy Bears’ Picnic (to name just a couple of events) and there are still more to come.

We have raised money for Zoe’s Place Zoe’s Place and have sponsored a Hack-Back Hack-Back CIC ‘Reading with Owls’ session at Widnes Academy (West Bank Primary School). The feedback from the children was amazing, “We got to hold the owls. I liked taking it  (the book) home and I’ve read it to my brother.”

We also have a new charity, ‘The Girls’ Network’, an organisation which helps to provide mentors to girls from underprivileged backgrounds to help develop their confidence and self-esteem and to make them aware of the opportunities are available to girls today and in the future. The Girls’ Network

Our Annual Charter Dinner was held on Friday 6th November at Widnes Masonic Hall, Widnes Group of Lodges (Widnes Masonic Hall) where we had a delicious meal and were delightfully entertained by singer Jenny Patterson with songs from West End Musicals following the toasts and speeches.
