Soroptimist International Wigan ex President Elaine Tyrrell and current President Angela Holmes were very happy to attend the  DIAS AGM to presented a cheque to support the work of the charity. Members of SI Wigan has supported the work of DIAS for many years as committee members and with events to raise funds throughout the year.

Sorpotimist International Wigan and Wigan Rotary Club annually support the work of the Brick Homeless Centre Wigan. 12 super quality sleeping bags were jointly donated to help people using the facilites at the Brick Centre. Money for the sleeping bags was raised at various events throughout the year.

A lunch was held in Southport to welcome new South Lancashire Regional President Margaret Davies.The day was a great opportunity to meet friends from other clubs, to celebrate the thriving clubs in the South Lancashire region and the difference they make to the lives of women and girls.

Soroptimist International Wigan members and friends were delighted to once again knit poppies in support of the Royal British Legion 2017 Appeal. Approximately 200 were produced.  

Soroptimist International President and members joined dignitaries, local councillors and residents to honour the sacrifices made by servicemen and women in the two world ways and recent conflicats.

To support the SIGBI 2016-2019 Meru Womens Garden Project, Soroptimist Clubs of Leigh and Wigan came together for an evening with a garden theme. The evening included a buffet, raffle, garden produce sale and  a talk about Incredible Edible Todmorden and the work that the community have done to provide good local food from unused areas and how it suports well being, local business and learning.
