Soroptimist International Wigan had a great Business Meeting in October when SI Regional President for South Lancashire Sue Underwood attended. Sue spoke about developing the club, the benefits of social media to promote club activities and how to communicate the many local and national activities and campaigns supported by Soroptimists. It was a very interesting and useful meeting with lots of discussion from members. President Angela Holmes thanked Sue and gave her flowers at the end of the meeting.

Soroptimist International of Wigan Summer Afternoon with Cream Tea and Cakes at Maxwell Farm in aid of Wigan & Leigh Hospice and DIAS SATURDAY 10th August 2019 A wonderful afternoon was had by all even though the weather was wet and windy. a total of £1205 was raised on the day with teas, raffle, book, plants, bring and buy stalls. Entertainment was provided by the Spectrum Community Choir.

President Angela Holmes attended the first Women’s Voice Group, organised by Wigan Council. To discuss how organisations across the Borough can work together to end gender inequality. “Ending gender inequality is at the heart of what we do locally,nationally and internationally”

              On May 10th 2019 Soroptimist International Wigan celebrated its 78th Annual Charter Dinner at Ashfield House.and Miss Angela Homes began her third year as President. SI Wigan welcomed Regional President of South Lancashire Ms Sue Underwood, President of Rotary International of Wigan Mr John Wright, President of Southport Mrs Jean Spoone, Mrs Anne Smith President of SI Leigh and District and members of their clubs.The guest Speaker was new member Mrs Kim Meehan from Wellbeing Wigan CIC. The food was excellent and entertainment was provided by the fantastic A Train Swing, who demonstrated their amazing dancing and encouraged participation from members and guests.

      The Charity Dinner held on March 8th 2019 at Ashfield House was a great success for Soroptimist International Wigan. The event was held to raise money for DIAS, the Brick Homeless Centre Wigan and Wigan and Leigh Hospice. There was wonderful  meal, fantastic entertainment by Olivia Garcia and raffle with luxury prizes donated by local businesses, members and friends.
