The Charity Dinner held on March 8th 2019 at Ashfield House was a great success for Soroptimist International Wigan. The event was held to raise money for DIAS, the Brick Homeless Centre Wigan and Wigan and Leigh Hospice. There was wonderful meal, fantastic entertainment by Olivia Garcia and raffle with luxury prizes donated by local businesses, members and friends.
Soroptimist International Wigan members and friends made knitted Easter chicks filled with chocolate eggs which were sold at the Regional Soroptimist Meeting in Leigh. £103.50 was raised on the day in support of Wigan and Leigh Hospice and chicks will be available at the Hospice until Easter.

Soroptimist International Wigan and Wigan Rotary donated sleeping bags to the Brick Centre in Wigan for the homeless. This is an annual donation that has supported the Brick and homeless people in Wigan for many years.
Congratulation to Bea outright winner of Soroptimist International Wigan Young Achiever Award 2018. Angela Holmes President was delighted that Councillor Susan Greensmith, Mayor of Wigan 2018-2019 was able to present the shield and voucher during a very special event in the Mayor’s parlour. Bea her family and Soroptimist International Wigan members were made welcome with tea and biscuits and the Mayor entertained all attending with stories about the history of the Town Hall and her experiences as Mayor. It was a very special occasion, Bea was a very worthy winner and is an inspirational young lady.
The annual Christmas collection boxes of gifts, treats and essentials for the Brick and homeless by SI Wigan members has begun. This year there will be an additional donation of pamper boxes for DIAS. The collection has started and will continue until just before Christmas.
