Programme Action Projects

Programme Action is what we call our work to help others.
Our focus is to help women and children and we do this at a local level, a national level and an international level.Our current work and projects are listed below.If you wish to find out more about Windermere Soroptimist and about our Programme Action work please follow the contact details on this web siteLocal programme action work;

  • We support the local refuge providing ‘essential comfort’ items such as toiletries, oral health products, sanitary protection and underwear, particularly for victims of domestic violence.
  • We gather used postage stamps which are sold to raise funds for the St Marys Hospice
  • At Christmas we donate food to the homeless hostel

National programme work included;

  • Raising awareness about human trafficking by supporting the Purple Teardrop Campaign, charity number 1133505.

International programme work such as;

  • Supporting Samaras Aid, a charity which provides a range of aid to refugess from conflict. We regularly provide good clothing, knitted blankets and baby/toddler clothing, Dignity Bags and Care Packs for newborn babies and expectant mothers.
  • The Windermere Club funds the education of a young woman in Swaziland through the PIES charity ( Partners in Education Swaziland)
  • Packing and sending ‘gift’ shoeboxes to Eastern Europe for the elderly

Programme Action is the core of what Soroptimists do, we try to raise awareness and help women and children locally, nationally and internationally, and particularly in projects affecting violence against women.
