SI Pune Metro East ‘We Care’ Project
The mental health of people suffering from a terminal or long-lasting disease like cancer can be severely disturbed. Couple that with the patient being a woman, the anchor of her home, extreme poverty, and ignorance of health care. At a small hospital, patients from deprived backgrounds are treated free of cost. Here women undergoing chemotherapy go through emotional, physical and psychological upheaval. They suffer loneliness and depression, and are unable to share their trauma.
To give them some mental relief, members of the Club spend time with them doing creative activity art therapy or just sharing experiences. From the feedback we have received the women find the sessions calming and enjoyable.
