We have worked as volunteers with Welsh Hearts and know first hand what a good job they do in early detection of heart problems.
They are the leading heart charity in Wales for placing defibrillators in communities and delivering CPR and defibrillator training in Wales.
Cardiovascular disease accounts for a third of all deaths in Wales, where the death rate is higher than in the majority of countries in Western Europe.
Their Mission and Vision are:
- To provide public-access defibrillators in Wales in close partnership with strategic partners
- To provide FREE defibrillator and CPR training for the Welsh public
- To ensure that monies raised in Wales are utilised and distributed within Wales on specific heart related projects
A future where nobody in Wales dies prematurely from heart disease. Welsh Hearts has been established as a fundraising organisation to help save lives in Wales.
World-leading research is improving our understanding of cancer stem cells and offers the potential to transform the way we tackle disease.
Cancer remains a major global health challenge – one in three people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime and one in four people will die of cancer.
Research at Cardiff University aims to improve our knowledge about cancer stem cells, and then to use that knowledge to develop new therapies. The institute has groups researching how stem cells work in different types of cancer. Ultimately, the goal is to transform the survival rates for patients suffering from all types of cancer.
