Eggheads

Eggheads

The Eggheads are so clever!  Even their random guesses are usually correct but that didn’t put us off having a go.  We were determined to put Soroptimists on the map and not disgrace ourselves.  I think that between us we must have covered every quiz programme on the TV prior to the trip, desperately hoping the unique, the odd and the downright obscure would sick in our minds for future retrieval.  Even on the train to Glasgow we had quiz books open and challenged each other and most of the carriage I think , to remeber what Henry VIII had for his last  breakfast, what is the population of Hovsgol in Outer Mongolia, or what colour lucky pants Steve Davis wore when he played snooker and other such everyday pieces of general knowledge. We were warmly welcomed at the studios and taken to the “green room”

Trip to Stones and Roses Garden

Trip to Stones and Roses Garden

After a fascinating and humorous talk by Raymond Smith, the owner of the Stones and Roses Garden, White Coppice, members of SI Bolton and friends had a wonderful afternoon looking around this beautiful garden and admiring , in particular, the perfect roses in all their varied colours and scents. The weather was, for a change, beautiful, and we spent time chatting on the patio  enjoying a cream tea.  Raymond, an accomplished organist, then treated us to a short recital of popular music.
