The SIGBI Board is delighted to invite you to join us in Edinburgh in November 2024.  Please see below an outline of what’s happening over the weekend of 1st – 3rd November

Friday 1st November – Educate

Ann Beatty

Starting off just after lunch with the Opening Ceremony and the traditional parade of flags.  18 countries will be swelled to 19 by then – see if you can spot the 19th!  There’s a welcoming address by the immediate past Rector of Edinburgh University, Debora Kayembe.  She’ll also tell us a little of her journey to Scotland which includes help from Soroptimists.

Ann Beatty, CEO of The Steve Sinnott Foundation kicks off the afternoon and we’ll learn of the work of the foundation and how it supports safe access to education.

The afternoon will end with the bars being open and an opportunity for you to network, look at the poster displays and meet your friends before going out for something to eat.

 

Saturday 2nd November – Empower and Enable

A full day including :

A report from Soroptimist International Europe on their empowering projects

Our key note speaker, Baroness Floella Benjamin, DBE.

Presentations on the Diamond Education Grant and the new SIGBI Leadership Academy.

The Change of Insignia Ceremony and, of course, the very popular People’s Best Practice Award.

….And to round up the evening we’re planning a banquet where tables will be laid out in regions so you can catch up with your friends and celebrate your regional teams.

Sunday 3rd November – AGM and Town Hall

SIGBI’s AGM this year will be the time when clubs vote on the modernisation proposals put forward by the Board.  It will be followed by a Town Hall session with the Board of directors.  It’s an opportunity for you to ask questions and have your say!

We’ll wish you a fond “Haste ye back” and safe travels just after lunch time on Sunday.
