President Ulla spoke about SI Europe’s green theme, showing us that although from different Federations, our Soroptimist aims are the same.
Her slides highlighted the sources of pollution in the world, contrasting these with the beauty of the plants and animals we can enjoy so long as we continue to protect the environment. The world is a small place and we all have a responsibility to work for a sustainable future so that generations yet to come can experience them too.
We must Talk, Work and Act Green.
As Soroptimists, we and our 80 000 sisters world-wide must work to make a difference: we can do this at UN level and at national level and we have to work at local level too.
In recruiting and retaining members, we are giving opportunities to others to share in our work, so we need to become story-tellers. Telling others how we make lives better for women and girls; how we care – about the environment and each other; how we offer friendship and a chance to meet like-minded women from different cultures and traditions.
Ulla finished by challenging us all to let our voices be heard! Let’s truly be a global voice for women!
