Harrogate and District Soroptimist have been in action to improve the Environment in the Art Room in the local Women’s Refuge. The Art Room is a space where the children and young people who are in the Refuge with their mothers can have space and time to be distracted from their everyday worries. The Club is currently working with the Refuge management team to improve the environment in the Refuge in a number of ways including replacing curtains and fund-raising to make safe the children’s play area. The Club also supplies starter packs for the families who are ready to start a new life and often have little to take with them to their new home.
The Art Room needed a good lick of paint – so with the colours chosen by those staying in the Refuge – Club members set about brightening up the area as can be seen in the photos below.
