Lots of lovely people have reached out to us to find out more about our new venture, so, we’ve answered the 10 questions we get asked most about our proposed e-club…
🔹 1. Who are the Soroptimists?
We’re a global organisation of women that fights for the rights and equality of women and girls around the world.
🔹 2. What is an e-club?
It’s just like any other Soroptimist club, except we mainly meet virtually rather than in person. With our e-club, we want to enable busy, younger women with family and career commitments to still experience Soroptimism.
🔹 3. Will we still meet in person?
Of course! We’ll do social events and programme action in person, as, when and where appropriate.
🔹 4. How much time do I need to dedicate to it?
As much or as little as you like, there’s no pressure to give more than you can.
🔹 5. How much will it cost to become a member?
Subscription fees are £8 per month or £96 annually. (Subscribe monthly or annually.)
🔹 6. Do I have to take up an Office or role?
Not if you don’t want to, but you can put yourself forward if you wish.
🔹 7. What will I do as a Soroptimist?
Raise awareness, raise funds and help us build a sisterhood. You can do anything from signing a petition to running a marathon, and everything in between. The choice is yours!
🔹 8. Can I join an e-club if I’m already a member of another Soroptimist club?
Unfortunately, you can only be a member of one club at a time. So, if you want to join an e-club, you will need to resign from your current club and switch your membership. But that doesn’t mean you can’t come along as a visitor!
🔹 9. Am I allowed to join?
If you’re a woman or identify as a woman, we’d love to have you!
🔹 10. What if I don’t know anything about Soroptimism?
Don’t worry, it’s not complicated, and no one does when they first join anyway! Just come along and the rest will follow.
If you have any other questions, pop them in the comments section below or email us at thenewsoroptimists@gmail.com and we will get back to you ASAP!
