The SI London Chilterns Region Conference & Annual General Meeting Saturday 10th October 2026 will be held at Lancaster Hall Hotel, 35 Craven Terrace, London, W2 3EL from 10 am to 3.30pm.
The keynote speaker is award winning Professor Sophie Harman – author of “Sick of It: The Global Fight for Women’s Health”. We will also hear from SIGBI President Gillie O’Rourke.
The price is £10 per person including a sandwich lunch and refreshments through the day. Booking information will be available soon. Guests will be very welcome.
The Region’s theme for 2025/26 is “Good Health and Wellbeing – The Right of Everyone”
Speaker: Professor Sophie Harman – Women’s Health Inequalities
Sophie is Professor of International Politics with a specific interest in global health, African Agency, film and visual methods, and gender politics. She has published eight books and numerous peer reviewed articles on these subjects. Her recent book, “Sick of It: the global fight for women’s health”, published in July 2024 was The Observer’s Book of the Week.
Speaker: SI Great Britain and Ireland (SIGBI) President Gillie O’Rouke will present the Federation strategic plan and talk openly about successes and challenges for the organisation. Club Members will be asked in advance for questions to ensure a good Q&A/discussion session.
AGM business will be covered during the day including long service awards.
There will be time to remember Members who sadly have died since the last AGM including a brief celebration of the life of the inimitable Jackie Paling. Members will be encouraged to share their stories on the day and are asked, if possible, to send brief stories with photos to silondonchilterns@hotmail.com at the beginning of September to create a presentation.
Programme Action: We will have an update on the amazing Kori Development Project https://koridp.org/ in Sierra Leone from Rose Simbo of SI Thames Valley.
The meeting is planned to end by 3.30pm and tea will be served before people leave.
The date of the next Annual General Meeting will be Saturday 9th October 2027.
