Our Coffee Morning this year coincided with our annual launch of the 16 days of activism for violence against women. The 16 Days of Activism (Against Gender-Based Violence) is an annual international campaign aimed at ending violence against women and girls. It runs from 25th November, (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to 10th December, (Human Rights Day).
Every guest at our Coffee Morning was given an orange ribbon pin to wear throughout the period of activism. Our wonderful ballroom was beautifully decorated with our Orange theme including our Festive Christmas Tree. Guests and members enjoyed refreshments provided by Aberavon Beach Hotel, along side challenging discussions on gender-based violence.
The colour Orange is used during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence as a symbol of a brighter future without violence. It was chosen by the UN Women’s “UNiTE to End Violence Against Women” campaign. It promotes the colour to represent hope and solidarity with survivors of gender-based violence.
