International Women’s Day is a powerful reminder of the achievements, struggles, and ongoing journey toward gender equality. Celebrated on March 8th, it honours the contributions of women in every part of society — from homes to governments, classrooms to boardrooms. It’s a day to celebrate progress, recognise challenges, and amplify the voices of women around the world, while continuing to push for equal rights, opportunities, and respect for all.
SI Port Talbot held our annual breakfast at Ysbryd-Y-Mor on Aberavon seafront. We provided a beautiful fair- trade continental breakfast for 75 guests and members alongside the wonderful sea views.
Our outstanding speaker was Louise Fleet, Lord Lieutenant of West Glamorgan. Louise presented an excellent and informative talk about her career along with outlining her role a Lord Lieutenant. Due to the high success of the event, and thanks to the incredible support of attendees, we raised £860.46. The proceeds of our Raffle £300 were donated to Mrs Fleets charity of Choice, Neath Port Talbot Child Contact Centre, helping aid their wonderful work, supporting local families in need.”
Neath Port Talbot Child Contact Centre provides a vital service for local families experiencing separation or divorce. It offers a safe, neutral space for children to maintain relationships with non-resident parents or family members.
