This series was part of our club’s initiative to raise awareness of Gender Based Violence. As part of our 16 days activism against gender-based violence, we asked 16 men of various ages and socio-economic backgrounds to each submit one-minute videos which were shared on our YouTube channel and on Facebook. The videos gave 16 powerful messages, each of differing perspectives on what constitutes a “real man” and how they should treat women. The varying points of view received several likes and shares and kept the discussion around GBV to the forefront. It also served to educate and inform other men on issues ranging from conflict resolution to relationship advice with the aim of ending gender base violence.
We are currently developing Part two of this series “Raising Real Men” as we saw an opportunity to make an even greater impact in the fight to end violence against women. This video series focuses on an elder male having a conversation with a young boy on how he should resolve conflicts and treat women without resorting to violence.
