SI San Fernando in partnership with the Rotary Club San Fernando and Trinidad and Tobago Medical Association South Branch hosted a free health fair for the residents of Moruga held at the Moruga market facility on the 7th August, 2022. Over 150 residents from this rural community benefited from a range of services provided by professionals including vison screening, doctor check-ups, blood pressure testing, diabetes testing, physiotherapy services, dental screening, Pap smears, breast examination, dietary advice from a registered dietician and free legal advice from an attorney at law.
Some service providers included the Trinidad and Tobago Cancer Society, Trinidad and Tobago diabetes association, Trinidad and Tobago Heart Foundation, Alcoholics Anonymous and Hope Optometrists. Club members also assisted on the day in the form of directing crowds, sanitizing, registering attendants and facilitating a smooth process.
The event was hugely successful and members of this community welcomed this initiative as many of them are of lower income means and often cannot afford basic health care.
