Thirty members of Scotland North travelled to the annual Federation Conference in the historic spa town of Harrogate.
Over 1400 delegates packed the conference hall to hear an array of excellent speakers.
We were inspired by the entrepreneurial work and achievements of Sahar Hashemi OBE as she told of how she took the necessary ‘big leap’ to establish her ‘Coffee Republic’ coffee shop chain.
Professor Susan Vinnicombe CBE informed us of her research interests in gender diversity on corporate boards, women’s leadership styles and the issues involved in women developing their managerial skills.
Dame Jenni Murray entertained us with interesting tales from her forty years of broadcasting. As the regular presenter of Radio 4′s, ‘Woman’s Hour’ she had some very amusing stories to tell.
Throughout the conference we learned of Programme Action Projects from across the Federation and met with Soroptimist friends. We all enjoyed a most rewarding weekend.
After the Change of Insignia, Scotland North members enjoyed getting together for some r+r (rest and relaxation with ‘light refreshment’)!
