International Women’s Day Event – 17th March 2019

After the success of last year’s Conference, three local Soroptimist International Clubs invite you to join them on Sunday 17th March 2019 at the Desborough Theatre, Town Hall, Maidenhead, SL6 1RF, from 2.00pm to 5.30pm to celebrate International Women’s Day. The theme of our Conference is: “Opportunities for Women and Girls” As a local organisation or as individuals, you are invited to join us to celebrate this unique day to learn about some of the issues faced by women locally and internationally. We also wish to raise awareness of the work that women’s organisations are doing.

Our Guest Speakers include:-

  • Gerry Lejeune OBE, CEO of Berkshire Community Foundation on Fundraising and Grant Giving to local community groups
  • Christina Berenger, DCI, Thames Valley Police on issues facing women in the Thames Valley
  • Alaa Fawaz (Chairman) and Raakhi Sharma (Representative) of Slough Youth Parliament – two schoolgirls giving their take on youth input to politics
  • Hannah Little, Fundraising and Marketing Officer, Womankind Worldwide on their work as a global women’s rights organisation working to improve women’s lives.

Tables (at £5 each) will be available should you wish to bring a display, sale items, leaflets etc from your organisation. The Centre will be open from 1pm to allow for setting up of displays, equipment etc. All guests to be seated by 2.25pm.for a prompt start.

We would be grateful if you would let us know by Wednesday 13th March how many of you are coming and whether you will be bringing a display stand or require a table – so that we can accommodate you and also provide refreshments. Contact details are at the bottom of this letter.

On arrival, please go to the Registration Desk before proceeding into the Theatre. The event costs £5 per person (£2 for students) including light refreshments. Parking is available at the following Car Parks: Grove Road, Hines Meadow, Magnet Leisure Centre, Nicholsons Shopping Centre and the Town Hall.
