Donations to the Hygiene Bank

At our speaker meeting this month, we hosted Lynne Gibson from the charity the Hygiene Bank.  We came prepared with our donations of toiletries.  The picture shows Lynne, in the middle in the branded yellow sweatshirt, with members of the club.

The charity tries to assess the impact of their work in terms of the weight of donations.  Our collection on the night weighed 13.05kg.  We hope to get to 90 items donated (in this Federation anniversary year), which we will take to the drop off point in Whiteley later.

The Hygiene Bank is an organisation made up of volunteers.  We noted there are only a few drop-off points in our local area.  If anyone wanted to volunteer for the charity locally, we could be better represented.  The job includes collecting from the boxes, recording the weight of donations and distributing them through community partners, such as Food Banks and pantries.  Also it is an opportunity to convince local businesses to have a drop-off box, or donate directly to the cause.  All fund-raising ideas are welcome.
