From the 16th to 19th June SI Weybridge and District hosted a friendship weekend for a total of 20 Soroptimists from Almelo in Holland, Kristiansand in Norway, Munster land in Germany and Silkeborg in Denmark. All the visitors and some of the Weybridge club stayed in a hotel and others came and went when available.

On Saturday morning there was a coach trip to the National Trust property at Polesden Lacey to see the beautiful house and gardens which were much admired by all. Later the party arrived at Watts Artists Village near Guildford where everyone enjoyed a lunch of quiche and a variety of salads. Time was given to explore the various galleries and everyone returned at 3pm for a cup of tea and biscuits and a talk about the new collection of Victorian photographs at the gallery. This was followed a by quick visit to Guildford Cathedral to see the Soroptimist stained glass plaque which was somewhat obscured as the Cathedral was undergoing a facelift and scaffolding was up inside. Throughout the weekend the weather was very variable but the sun came out whenever everyone was out and about.
On Saturday evening Weybridge hosted a gala dinner at the hotel which was very much enjoyed by all including Ruth Healey, Regional President. A member of each of the visiting clubs thanked Weybridge for a great visit said they hoped that they could do as good a job when it was their turn.
