Cleveland Police collected ten New Start Bags prepared by a club member. They will be used for victims of trafficking. The bags contain basic clothing, toiletries, some food items and if necessary a mobile phone.
Our speaker was Sue Willoughby from A Way Out. This Stockton based charity has supported vulnerable woman and girls for over 20 years. Their work has expanded greatly and now covers the whole of Teesside.
Councillor Pauline Beall spoke to the club about her year as Mayoress of Stockton. Liz Wood chaired the meeting.
We continue to support the Billingham and Stockton Borough Food Bank. Members donated items at our May meeting and Sue Scott made the delivery.
Sue Scott delivered clothes for a baby girl plus some equipment to the Baby Bank in Portrack.
Jane Leak chaired the meeting and welcomed Kerri Brems who works for the charity Arch Teesside as a sexual violence counsellor. The charity offers free and confidential support to victims of sexual violence in the Teesside area.
Club member, Jane Leak, presenting books and activity packs to Rebecca, the NEPACS play and project worker at Holme House and Kirklevington prisons. The books will be used by children when visiting family.
On Friday members Sue Moppett and Aillean Dixon called into the Billingham foodbank to deliver the food items and £80 in cash which were donated by club members.
We were joined by our regional president, Jan Robinson, and our regional program action chair, Shirley Hallam Gould. We heard interesting talks from both ladies. We were also joined by some members of the Middlesbrough club.
