South Warwickshire Foundation Trust

On Thursday Sept 7th the Soroptimist International club of Stratford upon Avon and District were joined by Jayne Blacklay, Director of Development and Deputy Chief of South Warwickshire Foundation Trust.

Jayne gave a very comprehensive talk about the current state of the NHS with a £30 million funding gap predicted by 2020 with a massive increase in demand for social care.New models of care are being developed including structural changes and more geographical funding. There is also an increased emphasis on helping people to help themselves.

Our local trust currently operates from 52 buildings with a £250 million budget and were one of very few trusts to make small profit last year. Following this success they are now buddying with Wye Valley trust in Hereford to help with best practice.

Jayne has worked tirelessly over the last two years to bring about the opening of our new hospital with Ophthalmology and cancer services now available and MRI due to be opening before Christmas. The building has been designed to allow for expansion of services as we have one of the highest densities of over 80 year olds in the country and an ever increasing population. The Health and Wellbeing hub within the hospital will begin shortly to help people navigate local services and over 50 organisations have been asked to contribute.
