Soroptimist International - Tamworth

Soroptimist International of Tamworth is part of a worldwide organisation of women, which is linked to the United Nations.

Welcome to SI Tamworth

The name Soroptimist was created from the Latin “soror”,  meaning sister, and “optima” , meaning best, so Soroptimist means “the best for women’.

From the founding of the first Soroptimist club in California, in 1921, through to the present day where over 3000 clubs are flourishing throughout the world, Soroptimists have continued to strive to achieve ‘the best for women’ in every sphere of their lives.  Our clubs work across the globe to improve the lives of women and girls in our own countries and beyond.

Soroptimist International (SI) Tamworth is a lively group of mainly 40-something ladies who enjoy friendship and fun but also have a social conscience.

SI Tamworth was formed in March 1948 with twelve members and the first Charter Dinner was held at the Peel Arms Hotel on 25th June 1948.

To day we have over 30 members.
