Daphne Dowsing, a past President of the Tiverton Soroptimist Club, has just returned from Malta. She was attending the Soroptimist International of Great Britain and Ireland’s 82nd Federation Conference in Valletta.

Daphne has been a Tiverton Soroptimist for nearly 20 years, helping the club raise many thousands of pounds for local and Soroptimist charities.

At the Conference Daphne was honoured to be elected as President for the Soroptimist International South West and Channel Islands Region. The role, which is voluntary, will involve visiting all 18 clubs in the Region, supporting them with their fund raising, and running 4 Regional meetings. One will be a Friendship weekend in Tiverton on 16th to 17th of June 2017.
Daphne says she is delighted to be able to take on the responsibility for the Region and is looking forward to the challenge.
Soroptimist means Best of Sisters, helping women and girls throughout the world to reach their full potential though education, enablement, and empowerment.
Daphne has previously represented the local Soroptimist club in Japan, Istanbul, Gouda in the Netherlands and more recently in Jersey, Tiverton Club’s newest Friendship link.
