Friday the 25th November was the UN Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. In the UK 2 women are killed every week by a current or former partner. To raise awareness of these crimes Weston -Super-Mare Soroptimists organised “Railing Against Abuse”. With Soroptimists from Tiverton they took a train to Bristol where they were joined Bristol Soroptimists. Then 40 of them marched from Templemeads station to the Bristol City Council Chapel to meet the Deputy Mayor of Bristol. Everyone wore bright orange and gave out bookmarks illustrating good relationships and bad ones to hundreds of people en route. We hope that we have made a difference to some women’s lives.
